The new issue of Vodafone's magazine Receiver. It's about digital mobilization the East Asian way. There are great papers by well-known authors as Daisuke Okabe and Mizuko Ito, Antony Townsend or Atau Tanaka. I am always impressed by the quality of this content. Paper I found very relevant for my research:
- Kenji Kohiyama: Mobile communication and place: Kohiyama speaks of the cell phone as an omnipresent gateway to the virtual world which will change people's notion of place profoundly.
- Daisuke Okabe and Mizuko Ito: Personal, portable, pedestrian images: In their joint contribution to receiver, Ito and Okabe discuss how camera phones have become pervasive in Japan, and are being used as a ubiquitous visual capture and sharing device.
- Anthony Townsend: Seoul searching – cybernomads and the ubiquitous city In "Seoul searching", Townsend takes a close look at Korea's digitally mediated urban space which, in Seoul's case, achieved a unique intensity.
Why do I blog this? unlike lots of carriers magazines, receiver is very valuable, it offers great insights by relevant researchers in the world.
